Super 2 Champion

Becoming the youngest Super2 champion meant a lot to Kai Allen, but he took more satisfaction from bringing Eggleston Motorsport back to the top.

Allen overcame Zak Best to steal the 2023 Super2 Series title in the final round of the season on the streets of Adelaide and give Eggleston its first title in nine years.

Allen remained cool under pressure in the concrete canyon to take the championship by six points despite not leading the standings for the entire season.

Whilst a Dunlop Series crown is the latest significant box ticked in his journey to being a Supercars star, bringing success back to Eggleston Motorsport was the biggest motivator for the Mount Gambier teenager.

“It was more special to win for them rather than myself,” Allen said. “To see all the smiles and happiness on the faces coming through the pit lane was unreal.”

It was the cherry on top of a massive 2023 for Allen, who started it with a broken collarbone before converting his maiden Super2 win into a championship, making a Great Race debut with DJR, plus spending time in the Red Bull F1 simulator at the world champions’ factory at Milton Keynes.

“It has been a phenomenal year and I am a bit lost with where I am at the moment,” he said.
